In the true spirit of what I intended this site to be, I want to redirect it back to its origin and start over clean. I started down a path of selling blanks to give builders a part that has been long overlooked and while I enjoyed helping builders along the way, I need to remember this wasn't the original intent of Mr. J.P. Longfellow.
The true intent of JPL was to bring to the building masses real and helpful information shared freely in an OPEN and PRODUCTIVE environment. The term "Open Source" may seem commonplace in the technological world, however in gun building it is somewhat odd and maybe even confusing to you technologically challenged out there like myself.
First of all, Open Source means the information is freely provided to anyone looking to build and enjoy on a personal level. And of course if there is anything you, the guests, feel like you would like to contribute, we not only welcome your submission, but encourage it! Please, send your files, info, sketches, link us to your own pages, show us your builds and lets form a community of gun builders that is helpful, supportive and encourages the next generation of machinists/gunsmiths and builders to put down the video game controller and the cell phone and learn to throw some chips!
Thank you for your patience as we shake the construction dust out. Keep stopping back and read our posts, download some models and blueprints and click that little +1 button by posts that you like. I promise it will get better. Stay with us, and stay on target.

Google+ was selected over other social media sites because you aren't required to be a member unless you want to post comments. You can view all my posts and read and enjoy.
Why did I go this route? Damn Social Media!
Well, actually updating this website is a ton of time I would rather be spending in the shop ruining some cutters and swearing at ferrous metals in the shop. So this way I can not only update things more frequently but you will have access to all my personal drawings/blueprints/solid models without having to ask me to post them.
Remington 700 Builders Resource
J.P. Longfellow is an attempt at an open source style of gun building resource based around the Remington 700 action. So, thanks for visiting.. Now GET BUILDING!
July 11th: Am I going anti-commercialism on the site now? No actually I want to help builders get going in the right direction WHILE ALSO helping the small manufacturers get their feet on the ground. SO.. If you make parts that you want to sell or trade to other builders etc. I want to hear from you. We have some big ideas in the works now and the gun building community is the absolute perfect place to start. So sit down write up an email send some pictures and tell us about your products. We want to hear from you.
June 26th: The 700 blueprint will be modified tonight, I just realized the print is missing the bolt sear channel in the receiver tang. Make sure you download model and blueprint with "RevB"
June 25th: Added the new Model and Blueprint for the Picatinny Rail
June 23rd: The Short Action Remington build has finally been transferred to an E-Sized blueprint. I know it isn't the best work, but if anyone out there shows me a better FREE complete E-Size drawing out there I will happily delete it and bow to the new reigning king of the Rem 700 builders. But until then.. You are stuck with this one! JPL700CustomSA1.5RevA.pdf
